Ms. Megan Jones is a native of Phoenix, AZ and is a 2006
honor graduate of the University of Georgia where she
received her Bachelor's degree in Music Education. Ms. Jones
is extremely excited to be entering her first year as
Director of Bands at Stockbridge High School. Prior to
coming to Stockbridge, Ms. Jones served as the Assistant
Band Director at Parkview High School in Lilburn, GA where
her duties included directing and assisting with the
Symphonic and Concert II ensembles, assisting with chamber
music activities, as well as serving as co-director of the
Parkview Panther Marching Band. Ms. Jones also served as
co-sponsor for the Parkview High School Winter Guard's
inaugural season in 2008.
During her college career, Ms. Jones served as Clarinet
Section Leader for the Redcoat Marching Band and served for
two years as Drum Major and Assistant Band Captain. Ms.
Jones continues to teach clarinet and conducting privately
to students from Oconee, Effingham, Chatham, Gwinnett,
Rockdale, and Jefferson counties. She has instructed in
these fields at various camps and master classes throughout
Georgia, Tennessee, and South Carolina, including the UGA
Summer Music and Marching Band Camps. Ms. Jones has also
served on Team SWAG at the Music for All Summer Symposium in
Normal, IL as a resident assistant and clinician.
During her undergraduate career, Ms. Jones studied
conducting privately with Dr. David Kish, Dr. David Romines,
and Ms. Laura Moates Stanley and served as an undergraduate
conductor for the UGA Concert Bands. She has also studied
conducting abroad with Dr. Robert Ambrose, Professors Gary
Hill, Tom Lee, and Michael Haithcock. Ms. Jones was a
clarinetist with the UGA Wind Ensemble, and has studied
privately with Dr. D. Ray McClellan, and Ms. Wendy Westberry
of South Carolina. She is currently performing with various
community ensembles, including the Northwinds Symphonic
Band. While at UGA, Ms. Jones served as Vice President of
CMENC, and Alumni Secretary and Music Chair for the Kappa Mu
Chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi. She was also a 2005 recipient of
the Georgia Music Educator's Association's Collegiate
Educator Scholarship.
Ms. Jones' professional affiliations include Sigma Alpha
Iota, Kappa Kappa Psi (National Honorary Band Service
Fraternity), the International Clarinet Association, the
National Band Association, and GMEA. Ms. Jones would like to
express her sincere gratitude to the teachers that led her
to become a band director and gave her so much guidance over
the years; Mr. Ryan Westberry, Ms. Patrice Mullis, and Mr.
Chris Brown.
