Color Guard and Winter Guard

Color Guard provides a theatrical component to marching band in the fall and an opportunity for more individualized “dance recital” in the spring. This program can be compared to theater with its use of dramatic, musical, and dance elements. Instruction is given in dance, ballet, and weapon/prop use (tall and short flags, swing flags, rifles, sabers, along with a variety of other props). Color Guard members participate in football games, parades, band reviews, field shows, color guard shows and other outside activities associated with band.

Attendance at all after school rehearsals and performances is required. The Color Guard is part of the Marching Band.  Once Marching Band season has conlcuded, the students enrolled into the Color Guard class will transition into Winter Guard where they will continue to develop the artistry of music and motion.
